SALEM — Edythe Barbara Ravenscroft, age 79 of West Union, WV, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born September 11, 1937, in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late Joseph Frank and Ellennora (Dashler) Frank.Edythe is survived by her husband, Wayne Ravenscroft of West Union, WV; a daughter, Cheryl Oed and her husband, Gregory Oed of Baltimore, MD; two granddaughters, Danielle Oed and Briana Bennett and her husband, Michael Bennett; three great-grandchildren, Lucas Koch, Logan Bennett and Carlee Bennett; a sister, June Pollock of Pennsylvania; several nieces, nephews and cousins.In addition to her parents, Edythe was preceded in death by her daughter, June ”Sissy” Toth; two brothers, Joe Frank and Butch Frank.Edythe was a member of the Word-Life Assembly of God Church, where she was deeply involved in ministry.Family will receive friends at Greathouse Funeral Home, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 2-7 p.m.; funeral service will be held at Greathouse Funeral Home on Friday, September 8, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Masto, presiding. Francis “Frank” McNelis, 74, of Grand Island passed away Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, after a 10-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. Pastor Bill Pavuk will officiate. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home.Frank was born on April 24, 1943, in Greeley County, son of Donald and Anna (Kramer) McNelis.Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Barb McNelis of Grand Island; children, Lori (Tom) Harbin of Omaha, Mindy McNelis (Frank Contreras) of Kansas City, Mo., Russ (Jodi) Heins of Sioux Falls, S.D., Sean (Mikki) McNelis of Grand Island, Kendra (Keith) Goerl of Valparaiso, Ind.; sisters, Rose Mary (Don) Debban of Elwood, Julia (Benny) Medina of Corvallis, Ore.; grandchildren, Cory Orcutt, Halie, Darrek, Mollie and Rylie McNelis, Austin and Zach Heins, Addison, Katie, Lauren and Grant Goerl; and three great-grandchildren, along with many friends and extended family.Frank was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Delores Stafford; and grandchildren, Sydney, Luke and Tyler Heins.His younger years were spent in Scotia. In 1957, Frank and his family moved to Grand Island where he graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1961.On July 27, 1974, Frank was united in marriage to Barbara Heins (Knuth). The couple made their home in Grand Island where Frank was employed with Cargill Nutrena Feeds for 32 years.Frank was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church for more than 40 years, participating on the church council, various committees and serving as a communion deacon. He was also a member of the Platt Duetsche and the Grand Island Saddle Club.The family of Frank would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff of Edgewood Vista and Aseracare Hospice.
